I Will Hide Myself Away/I Will Follow - Cartel →
Smooth like a rolling crystal ball Heading for a sight line straight towards a fall No one will get through at all
The night sky illuminates it all Like a distant fire fight, all is orchestral Time is coming soon just to pass by you
And I will hide myself away Save all these people for another day And I will hide myself away Just to spite them all for another day
And I will hide myself away...

To teach
“To teach is the greatest act of optimism.”
That has been my profile quote since the day I started my tumblr, but now I really understand it. This job is hard. If two fights and a suicide attempt within a 24 hour period don’t get that message across to you, then nothing will. My school is rough, my kids are scrappy fighters, and my job is made up of endless mounds of paperwork....

Silly Little Projects
To keep my mind and intellect occupied, I like to read and rewrite random selections in different contexts. Latest projects?
1) Machiavelli’s “The Prince” for classroom management
2) Sun Tzu’s “The Art of War” for planning lessons
The best part of being educated (and someday the students will see this) is that anything and everything can be connected, you just have to take the time to look...

Learning, Very Slowly
Get Those Lesson Plans Done
As silly as it sounds, yes, you need to get those lesson plans done. It is so much easier to plan a trip when you know exactly where you are going. So far this year I have done them three different ways: a day ahead of time, a couple weeks ahead of time, and in an effort to “reteach”. Trust me, a day ahead is a BIG mistake. Warning: Use only when you are...

… It only took the first month an a half of school, but I am FINALLY starting to get ahead of the game. Lesson plans for the week are DONE! :D I still need to make the quizzes and tests, but other than that I’m all done.
The learning curve for teaching is unbearably long. Even now I still find myself learning new things each day. As long as I remain patient with myself this will just...
